Yay a mermaid!!! She does seem really sad tho :( some tales of mermaids say that mermaids cry, not sing. that they're the souls of women who wasted away, waiting for their men to return from sea, so sailors are haunted by their cries and often drowned trying to quell the tears of a strange beautiful woman. ties in with why the sea is salty etc.
